Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles For The Nintendo Wii Game Review

Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles is available from Capcom USA for $48.99 on Amazon. This survival horror series has come quite a distance with this latest offering. The story is completely original. Although you have the background of the first few Resident Evil games, this game has a freshness that is quite likeable in a gruesome, gooey sort of way.

The scenario is set in 2003 with a reunion of Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine the original duo of the Resident Evil series. There these two hunt down the last remnants of Umbrella in a frozen industrial complex. In addition there are many side missions that are quite engaging.

The pacing of action in this game is methodical. The pistol has unlimited ammunition but its effectiveness decreases as time goes by. This means you have to rely on other weapons - shotguns, grenades, automatic weapons etc. You need to conserve the ammo to make the most of these.

Some of the close quarter combat tactics open to you work quite well in this game as well. The gameplay is largely composed of killing zombies but there are also some interactive cinematic moments.

Although Umbrella Chronicles is not the best game in its genre, it is quite solid with strong ambience, attention to detail and good touches. If you like the games of this genre, you might want to try this one.
