Cosmic Family: Inflation Invoked

Diving into the younger market is a calculated business move for Ubisoft that pays off with the release of Cosmic Family. The set-up is appealing to the toddler demographic as the earth family climbs aboard a space ship and gets to explore the decks of this cartoon environment. Using the Wii remote is intuitive and any tyke who has navigated a point and click mouse situation will have no trouble with this. These earthlings are charming in the extreme and the mini games show a degree of difficulty appropriate for the 4-8 year range.Presentation is just right for little ones with a TV cartoon appearance to the backgrounds and animation while voice over instructions demonstrate the objectives and methods of each game. Most of the games have some element of education by sorting objects into logical patterns, arranging tiles, or counting flower pedals so that your child has the opportunity to practice a number of different skills, including an introduction to virtual environments.Cosmic Family does not, however, make good use of the waggle component of the Wii remote, a concept entirely within the grasp of a young one. The depth of this offering falls short, as most kids will find they have exhausted their interest in a short time frame. The real drawback is the price tag; unless you can find a discount, the suggested retail of $49.99 goes way beyond the value measured by the interest length. Cosmic Family is a good rental that would otherwise be sitting in a drawer after the first week.
