Cooking Mama: Cook Off for Nintendo Wii Game Review
Cooking Mama is a game that entertains in a different style. It is a lot different from the fast paced action of some of the most popular games today. Cooking Mama on the Nintendo Wii is the follow up for the game on the Nintendo DS.
If you wanted to try cooking without the hassles, you can do so realistically with your wii mote. Though there is no real story to this game, food buffs and cooking afficionados will love it.
There is a great selection of food to be made. There are 300 ingredients and 55 dishes. You neeed to select the proper ingredients and make the food using the wii mote to slice, dice, chop, pour and perform all the cooking activities you would in a real life scenario. These acts feel very real with the wii mote.Although Cooking Mama might not add to my abilities as a chef, the realism of the game is exciting. Although some tweaks have been done to remove the boredom from cooking. You do not have to wait for an hour to see the virtual bread rise.
When the player makes a dish, he/she is given a grade and a medal. That is not all if you want more entertainment, you can challenge one of the artificially intelligent chefs to a ‘cook off’. This can be done with a friend as well. The graphics aren’t great but the music is nice. The food looks good. In addition the quality of sound effects add to the realistic feeling of the game.
Am I going to recommend this game to you? Only if you like light fun and either are an expert cook or always wanted to try your hand at cooking. If you like you can always rent the game before buying it.
