Code Lyoko: Quest for Infinity—Perdu en Espace

Primarily aimed at an adolescent audience, Code Lyoko: Quest for Infinity will not generate a mad scramble between parents for the Wii remote after Junior has gone to sleep. Cyber space is in this case remarkably similar to space as in Star Trek but this does not diminish the appeal to a younger gamer. The feeling of “us against them” will make this take-off on a French animated series a popular alternative to some of the anime games out there.

The four characters are distinctly different with a variety of individual talents so that switching off among them will give decidedly different attacks. Familiarity with the original story line is very helpful, in fact, probably necessary for the cut scenes with voice-overs do not tell you much at all. Basically the story line involves four students who band together to rescue a friend who has been lost in cyber space so they have to travel through virtual reality spheres to battle for their buddy. This collegiality is the only endearing quality that the quartet possesses as they are perhaps the least sympathetic protagonists in the video world.

The graphics resemble gray scale drawings done by first year art students who won’t meet the prerequisite for drawing 201. Wii technology is adequately utilized as the movements are synchronized well with the action.

If all your child is looking for is action and adventure without having to make much sense, Code Lyoko: Quest for Infinity is a good purchase.
